Meet 2016’s 25 Under 25

Newcomers bursting on the scene like nineteen-year-old producer sensation Desiigner sits alongside pop stars Shawn Mendes, Ariana Grande and Colombian singer Maluma in our 2016 list of influential young artists. Our team of in-house music experts looked at a variety of factors to determine this year’s 25 under 25 list, including monthly audience size, placement in Spotify’s top playlists and top-performance by genre.

Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes tops the list with Ariana Grande, Chance the Rapper, Martin Garrix and Justin Bieber rounding out the Top 5. While 2014 and 2015 were dominated by female pop singers, 2016’s list includes international rock, EDM and hip-hop talent such as England’s Glass Animals, Australia’s Flume, and Canada’s Tory Lanez. The list also features rising country artist Kelsea Ballerini, Swedish pop sensation Zara Larsson and Australian singer-songwriter Joel Adams.
