2025 Spotify for Artists Recap

December 16, 2025

Another year of deeper fan connections, standout releases, smarter campaigns, and more transparency — all right here on Spotify for Artists.

This year, we introduced new tools that elevate how your music shows up on Spotify, giving your fans richer ways to hear you, see you, and discover the collaborators who help bring each track to life. Here’s a look at what we rolled out this year to better support artists everywhere.

You brought fans deeper into your creative world

In 2025, music videos began rolling out in beta on Spotify in 100+ global markets including the U.S., letting fans watch your official videos, covers, and live performances right alongside your tracks. We also introduced Lossless Audio for Premium listeners, helping fans experience your music with even more depth and clarity.

Fans can now learn more about the people behind your music as well. We launched expanded Song Credits, which show all delivered credits for each track, giving more visibility to the writers, producers, engineers, and musicians involved.

We upgraded concert discovery features that help your shows reach more listeners where they’re already listening to your music. Fans can now follow their favorite venues, explore upcoming lineups, and get personalized recommendations for shows near them.

Your new releases took center stage

Fans had even more opportunities to discover your new releases this year. We introduced the Upcoming Releases hub — a new in-app destination powered by Countdown Pages where fans can browse what’s coming next and pre-save the music they’re most excited about. The Drop Weekly launched in the U.S. as a new Friday destination with short-form video, commentary from Spotify editors, personalized picks, and Countdown Page previews. And, in a new Spotify for Artists Masterclass, we broke down how to supercharge your release, from building early hype to keeping momentum going long after release day.

Jorja Smith showed us that dropping new music is about way more than hitting upload — it’s the scribbles, the voice notes, the late-night planning. All that behind-the-scenes work helps fans connect with the story behind every new release.

That’s not all. We had fun with our Playlist Adds social series, spotlighting the hilarious, heartfelt, and chaotic fan-made playlist names your songs landed in. And, to cap off the year, we celebrated the teams behind the most impactful new-release campaigns of the year with our 2025 Spotify for Artists Marketing Awards.

Your campaigns reached fans in new ways

We introduced clearer, better ways to plan and promote your releases. It’s now easier to set up Marquee and Showcase campaigns — you can build one campaign with multiple sub-campaigns for different markets, formats, audiences, start dates, and budgets. Showcase rolled out to desktop in 13 countries, putting your music in front of fans no matter how they use Spotify.

This year, you learned about your audience on a deeper level. Super listeners— that small but mighty group that, on average, makes up about 2% of your monthly listeners but drives 18% of your monthly streams and roughly half of your ticket sales on Spotify — became a bigger part of your release planning. In our Activating Super Listeners Masterclass, we broke down how to spot them, and how tools like Campaign Kit can help you create more of them. Discovery Mode continued to help your music reach new listeners long after release week. We also sat down with indie band Indigo Waves and learned how they used Discovery Mode alongside Artist Pick, Canvas, playlist pitching, Merch, Showcase, and Marquee to triple their monthly listeners during the rollout of their album Mirror.

You helped us build a more transparent music ecosystem

In 2025, we brought stronger protections for your music and clearer insight into how the industry works. Loud & Clear returned with an updated look at the streaming economy — including the more than $10 billion Spotify paid out to the music industry in 2024. Our new Royalties Guide broke down how payouts work, and what you can do to make sure you’re collecting everything you’re owed. And, to help you better navigate the ecosystem and avoid common pitfalls, we introduced a new Understanding Artificial Streaming Masterclass — what it is, how to avoid it, and the steps you can take to protect your music and royalties.

Keeping your catalog accurate got easier, too. You can now flag incorrect upcoming releases directly in Spotify for Artists, making it simple to quickly report anything that doesn’t belong on your profile so fans land on the right music when they visit your page.

We took big first steps to strengthen AI protections for artists, songwriters, and producers on Spotify. Our new policies remove unauthorized vocal clones, block spam and mass uploads, and will make it clear when AI has played a role in creating a track. All of this helps protect your music, your royalties, and your choices as an artist.

You lifted up new voices

This year, we celebrated ten years of Fresh Finds spotlighting the emerging artists who’ve shaped the playlists and helped define a decade of discovery. The series expanded with Fresh Finds Songwriters — where songwriters and producers take the aux to spotlight a few of their favorite and most promising independent writers.

Our Artists to Watch 2025 list featured 35 artists across more than a dozen genres, and annual spotlights like Best New Artist and Editors’ Picks continued introducing listeners to the voices moving music forward.

We deepened our commitment to artists’ well-being through Heart & Soul: Mental Health for Creators, a global initiative with partners like Backline and other nonprofits, to make meaningful support more accessible. We were also out in the world, showing up across cultural moments — from the Latin Grammys and Big Sound in Australia to the CCMAs in Canada, CMA Fest in Nashville, and Empowerment Day in Colombia.

As always, the year wrapped with Wrapped. This year, every artist was able to upload a Clip for Wrapped to thank their top fans. And, Wrapped brought new data stories that revealed the impact your music had with listeners everywhere. Wrapped for Songwriters offered the same spotlight to the writers and producers behind the music, surfacing how the songs you helped shape traveled across Spotify.
