The music industry doesn’t run on a 9–5 schedule, and neither does the need for support.
Working in music can be deeply meaningful, creative, and rewarding. It can also involve long hours, unpredictable schedules, and time away from home. For many across the music community, these realities affect mental health in ways that aren’t always visible or easy to name.
Challenges often surface late at night, on the road, during gaps between projects, or in the quieter moments when structure and connection fall away. Having access to support in those moments matters.
B-LINE is here when you need it
B-LINE is the first 24/7 mental health and crisis support line created specifically for the US music industry. It offers confidential call and text support for anyone in music, including artists, songwriters, crew members, managers, agents, venue staff, and family members.
The service is operated by Backline, the music industry’s leading mental health and wellness nonprofit, in partnership with Vibrant, and with support from Spotify for Artists.
Help is available even if you’re not in crisis. B-LINE is available for all moments that feel overwhelming, uncertain, or simply difficult to navigate alone.
Connect with B-LINE by calling 855-BLINE99 or texting 254-639. B-LINE operates 24/7 in English and Spanish, with additional translation services available.

How B-LINE Works
When you reach out to B-LINE, you’ll be connected to a trained counselor who understands the realities of working in music—including irregular schedules, time on the road, creative pressure, and the uncertainty that can come between projects.
Conversations start with listening. You’ll be asked a few simple questions to better understand what’s going on, and assess what kind of support feels most helpful in that moment.
There’s no pressure to know what to say, or to have a specific outcome in mind. B-LINE offers confidential, judgment-free support and help identifying next steps, whether that means talking things through, or exploring additional resources. At the end of your conversation with B-LINE, you can choose to connect with Backline for ongoing support.
Additional resources
There’s no single, correct path to mental health support. What’s most helpful for you can depend on where you live, the kind of work you do, and what you’re navigating at any given time. The resources below offer options for immediate support, connection, and ongoing care.
Backline Global Resource Hub: Backline’s centralized global directory is built for the music community, and offers access to mental health providers, support groups, crisis resources, workshops, tour support, and wellness programs. Backline also offers a global concierge email service to help individuals find the best care options for them worldwide.
Spotify's Heart & Soul for Creators On-Platform Hub: The on-platform hub is a curated destination on Spotify bringing together playlists, podcasts, and audiobooks focused on well-being. It’s designed to support artists, songwriters, and creators — regardless of where they are.
For those working in music outside the US, confidential crisis support is available through organizations serving different regions:
In the UK: Music Minds Matter offers 24/7 phone support for anyone working in music. Call 0808 802 8008 or text MUSIC to 85258.
In Australia: Support Act provides mental health support for artists, songwriters, and crew through its Wellbeing Helpline at 1800 959 500.
Other regions: Throughline Care maintains a directory of crisis and support lines.
Wherever you are, confidential support exists for moments of crisis and the spaces in between.
