Choose a distributorMusic gets uploaded to Spotify via a distributor. For a fee or commission, distributors will handle the licensing and distribution to Spotify and other streaming services, and pay you royalties when listeners stream.

Upload your musicMake sure your music is release-ready before uploading via your distributor.
  • Export the highest quality lossless files of your music and follow your chosen distributor’s guidelines for uploading.
  • Provide your metadata: album title, credits, release date, etc.
  • Upload cover art for your release.

    Access your dashboardGive a face and name to your music by setting up your profile.
  • Once your music is on Spotify you can access your artist profile and your Spotify for Artists dashboard, where you can track performance and manage your content.
  • After claiming your Spotify for Artists profile, you’ll get full access to the profile and a Registered Artist label in the About section of your profile
  • Customize your profile by adding photos, a bio, links to your social media, merch, and playlists.

    • Spotify for Artists is free to join — all you need is a Spotify account.
    • No, Spotify for Artists is for all artists.
    • You can log in with your personal Spotify account. If you don’t have access to Spotify for Artists yet, you can get access to connect your account to your artist profile or label team.
    • On Spotify for Artists you can get discovered by millions of listeners, customize your artist profile, pitch an unreleased song to our playlist editors, manage your merch and concert integrations, get deep analytics and insights into your music’s performance, and much more.
    • Ask your label or distributor for your artist link or URI, which will start with spotify.com/artist or spotify:artist. When you claim your artist profile, paste your artist link or URI in the What profile are you claiming? page. Give yourself at least 7 days prior to your release to pitch a song to our editors and get your profile looking perfect for launch.
    • When a song gets played on Spotify, the rights holders receive royalties for it, whether it’s played by a Premium or ad-supported customer. Typically, royalty payments happen once a month, but exactly when and how much artists get paid depends on their agreements with their record label or distributor. We’ve put together extensive resources on how this works at Loud and Clear.
    • Use Spotify for Artists to pitch an unreleased song to our playlist editors at least 7 days ahead of its release date.
