October 15, 2024

Music is more than just sound – it’s about storytelling and building deeper connections with your fans. That's why we're excited that music videos are rolling out in beta for millions more Spotify Premium listeners in 97 markets.

Music videos are not yet available for Spotify listeners in the United States or Canada. Full list of available markets here.

From iconic moments like Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and Beyoncé's "Formation" to the viral sensations of today, music videos have always been one of the most powerful ways to tell your story as an artist and connect with your audience. They bring your music to life, adding a rich visual layer that makes your tracks more memorable and lets fans experience them on a whole new level. And with a new home on Spotify, music videos are just as essential today as they’ve ever been.

Official music videos are rolling out in beta as the newest way to bring your music to life and connect with listeners on a deeper level. Music videos on Spotify are connected directly to your audio track so your full creative world can reach the world’s biggest music fans, right where they’re already streaming. And this is just the beginning – more features and tools will be rolled out as the beta expands.

Whether you’re looking to strengthen relationships with your loyal fans or reconnect with listeners who haven’t streamed you in for a while, music videos help set the stage for long-term engagement. And the data backs it up: on average, listeners who discover a track with a music video on Spotify are 34% more likely to stream it again the following week. Plus, music videos inspire action – on average, tracks with videos are 24% more likely to be saved or shared. Teams for artists like Charli xcx, Danna Paola, FIREBOY DML, LISA, and Fontaines D.C. have already used music videos on Spotify to bring their fans even closer to the music.

How Fans Can Watch or Listen on Spotify

Your fans can now experience your music videos on Spotify. When they play a track with a music video, they’ll see a “Switch to Video” option in the Now Playing view. One tap, and the video plays seamlessly without leaving the app. For a more immersive experience, they can rotate their phone to watch in full-screen. And switching back to audio is just as simple, giving listeners more control over how they want to engage with your music.

Your music videos can be discovered from your artist profile, the Now Playing view, Search, and more – making it easier for your fans to stay connected to both your music and visuals and dive deeper into your creative world.

Managing Your Creative World with Spotify for Artists Tools

Music videos join other video and visual tools that help you connect with new fans and loyal listeners in meaningful ways. Canvas—those eye-catching 3- to 8-second looping visuals—captures attention from the Now Playing view, while Clips lets you share short, vertical videos that give fans a behind-the-scenes look at your creative process or tease upcoming music, which can be watched on Home, Countdown Pages, release pages, and more. And now, with full-length official music videos, you can take your visual storytelling even further.

To make managing all your visuals even easier, we’ve launched the Video & Visuals tab in Spotify for Artists. Once your music video is on Spotify, the Video & Visuals tab lets you view all of these music videos, alongside your previous Clips and Canvas uploads. Plus, you’ll have access to helpful music video analytics, including all-time video streams, giving you valuable insights into how your fans are connecting with your music. In the coming weeks, we’re also rolling out the ability to set any of your music videos on Spotify as your Artist Pick, so you can showcase your visual work at the top of your artist profile.
