Your music connected with your fans unlike ever before

Your 2024 release days were like national holidays for your fans. To maximize excitement, you built hype in the days leading up to each official drop with our Countdown Pages (which we made available to all eligible artists this summer), complete with tracklist previews, teaser Clips, and access to new merch.

We put together a step-by-step new release checklist to ensure you had everything ready for your fans when the big day arrived. Navigating our new Video & Visuals tab is more convenient than ever with new, dedicated Clips, Canvas, and Music Video tabs— all to help you manage a trove of fresh, fun content for your fans right where they stream your latest projects. To showcase the impact of every part of the process, we revealed how Laufey and her team used Spotify for Artists to maximize the release of her hit album Bewitched: The Goddess Edition.

This year, official music videos were brought to 97 markets as part of our beta program, so your fans can enjoy the rich visual layer that makes your tracks more memorable and lets fans experience them on a whole new level — without ever leaving Spotify. We also expanded Clips to the many places where fans would want to get more context on your music: the Now Playing view, artist profile, release pages, or right on Home.

Beyond these video features, we’re building tools to help fans go see you live, as well. Our concert discovery experience upgraded in 2024, too, with the revamp of Live Events to help you get closer to your fans IRL. Not only did we debut an optimized feed for fans and a new landing page for artists, but we also launched several new fan-facing features, including saving events to Your Library, personalized recommendation cards on the artist profile, and broadened access to Fans First presales.

Your campaign strategies set a new standard

The inaugural Spotify for Artists Marketing Awards and the highly anticipated 2024 Wrapped for Artists just dropped. Both celebrate the incredible artistry, dedication, and hard work that went into this year’s releases. They are concrete reminders that every fan, stream, pre-save, view, playlist, and campaign amounts to something you can be proud of.

Speaking of campaigns, we loved seeing how you tapped into Campaign Kit to amplify your reach and turn even more listeners into deeper fans. This year, Marquee and Showcase were introduced to a wider lineup of markets — including Germany, Mexico, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands — and we improved the tools for those already putting them into action. You had lots of fun with the new custom Marquee background colors and shared your music with new listeners using our new programmed and potential audience targeting segments, which went live in February. To give every artist new insight into how their audience is growing and engaging with their new releases, we launched listener conversion metrics and added active audience to the release engagement page.

Our case studies showed how Campaign Kit helped seven different independent artists hit major music milestones. For example, pop artist Jillian Rossi was able to achieve her ultimate goal of surpassing 100 million streams for her album Never Fully Loved, and reggae artist Khalia’s Marquee listeners continued to stream her music approximately six times more than other listeners nearly one month after the release of her EP Stay True.

You helped us protect emerging and professional artists

We’re committed to helping to safeguard the royalty pool for emerging and professional artists. To help artists understand what exactly artificial streaming is, why it’s an issue, how to avoid it, and how Spotify is tackling it, we gathered educational resources into one place with a brand-new education center. Here, you can find our playlist reporter form, which we recently introduced as an easy way to tell us if you think your music has been added to a suspicious playlist.

Spotify for Artists’ royalty policies also got an upgrade to better distribute small payments that aren’t reaching artists, and limit attempts to game the system with noise. Plus, Loud & Clear 2024, Spotify’s annual music economics report, offered transparency on how many artists are generating different levels of royalties, how we support indies, and more.

You empowered your peers

In 2024, you were instrumental in helping Spotify for Artists build a closer community among the artists on our platform. Dozens of you offered exclusive, behind-the-scenes info on how you utilized Spotify for Artists’ tools, like Countdown Pages, Clips, and Canvases through our Spotlights, Get Ready With Me: Clips, Clip of the Week, Campaign Kit artist case studies (including video case studies), and Dive In series on Instagram. We also debuted “Countdown To”, our first-of-its-kind video podcast series featuring interviews with artists, like FINNEAS, mgk, and Jelly Roll, on their latest projects and inspiration.

Offline, you joined Spotify for Artists at this year’s Latin Grammys, Spotify House at CMA Fest, and Indie Week. We’re so glad we could help you connect with others in the industry IRL and look forward to seeing you at the exciting events we have planned in the new year.

As always, thank you so much for joining us. Supporting your 2024 goals has truly been an honor, and we can’t wait to help you develop your fanbase in new, innovative ways in 2025.
